Development Forum
Why was this formed?
At the CAFM Explorer User Group event in May 2009 held at IPC Media’s Blue Fin building, London the User Group committee hosted a Strategic workshop. This identified a number of hot topics our CAFM Explorer Users wanted to discuss.
Following this, the User Group committee wanted to hold a meeting with a number of users to discuss these topics in more detail. An email was sent out in July 2009 to all CAFM Explorer users and from this a number of volunteers came forward to get involved in the CAFM Explorer User Group Development Forum.
What happened on the Development Forum day?
The Development Forum took place in November 2009 at NM Rothschild & Sons, London. It was chaired by Phil Rickett, National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy (NCYPE) and he was supported by the other committee members:-
Keith Surey, London Borough of Brent
Michael Priestley, Withers LLP
Roger Wragg, NM Rothschild & Sons
Tony Leppard, FMx Ltd
The CAFM Explorer users who attended were:-
Billy Jones, Dalkia (on behalf of Scottish Government)
Derek Wilkinson, Westminster Kingsway College
Mike O'Connor, University of Salford
Steven Howard, University of Salford
Julie Rawling, IPC Media
Peter Topham, Royal London
Will Davis, Lane, Clark & Peacock LLP
The aim of the Development Forum is to provide clarity on the topics discussed to see if the functionality within CAFM Explorer will need to be enhanced. Any product enhancements will need to be prioritorised by all CAFM Explorer users via the User Group survey. Those with the highest priority will be added to the development plan of CAFM Explorer and form part of future software releases.
The topics discussed were:-
Building Log Book and Historical Reporting
Permit to Work and Energy Management
Live Reporting
Development Forum Video
The Development Forum action plan
December 2009 User Group committee to formalise the findings of the Development Forum
Early 2010 Follow up Development Forum to put together a questionnaire for a User Group survey
Spring 2010 CAFM Explorer User Group survey
Summer 2010 Analyse the findings of the User Group survey and report back the results in the next User Group event (28th September 2010)
All attendees found the Development Forum a most productive and informative session and are keen to expand their use of the product and assist FMx Ltd in ensuring the product develops in-line with their respective roles and responsibilities.
